At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.

The Institute for Translational Bioengineering (ITB) was established to harness and advance the use of human model systems in drug discovery and development, as well as personalized medicine. With close ties to academia and Roche Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED), we are uniquely positioned to unlock organoids’ transformative potential for the benefit of patients.

Role Mission

Seamless integration of multi-modality and multi-scale datasets is particularly challenging and key to unlocking new insights. Together with ITB scientists, you will design and implement software solutions to support data integration, visualisation and analysis.

Your Impact:
  • Create software integration or custom software to enable scientists at ITB to gain new biological insights

  • Develop software proof of concepts to advance data analytics methods and scale solutions as part of the overall data framework in ITB

  • Develop and maintain statistical data analysis tools for high dimensional data (spatial omics, single cell sequencing, machine learning)

  • Maintain oversight on data analytics requirements in ITB and initiate or contribute to future strategic initiatives

  • Design and implement analytical workflow in collaboration with scientists at ITB

  • Disseminate knowledge to ITB members, host workshops on data analysis topics

  • Join the existing network of interactions of ITB with the Data and Analytics group at Roche and further broaden this network by connecting with relevant stakeholders

  • Represent the ITB in strategic informatics bodies

Your Profile:
  • Expert understanding of software engineering, software design and development

  • Solid background in exploratory data analysis and statistics methodology and tools

  • Strong experience in designing scalable solutions that leverage high performance computing or cloud environments

  • Strong expertise and track record in Python (or equivalent), CI/CD (gitlab), containerization, software packaging

  • Experience in biological data processing and bioinformatics is an advantage

  • Knowledge of machine learning an advantage
